TitleRecommended Authentic Reading and Listening Materials
Body
I would encourage those interested in free online reading texts to check these two resources: First, the Voice of America, which includes both reading and listening materials, all in the public domain. Check out the contents pages at http://www.voanews.com/english . Also check out the Special English section for articles written at a lower level of difficulty and recorded more slowly.

Another great resource is the Literacyworks Learning Resources site which provides practice in reading and listening to news stories from CNN and CBS Channel 5 in California. Each story is accompanied by the original video clip, a transcription of the story, an abridged version, an outline, and interactive reading comprehension exercises. The story archive is at http://literacynet.org/cnnsf/archives.html .
