Title | Favorite Spanish 1 Activities |
Body | The following activity ideas for beginning learners of Spanish were recently posted to the FLTEACH listserv. The first two were responses to a request for ideas for practicing adjectives in class. They are not step-by-step lesson plans, but they may help get your creative juices flowing. ---- Create a funny and memorable story with the vocabulary. Have students illustrate their own story. Read, translate, have a partner translate, etc. Use index cards to have students create sentences with "es". Zichterman, E.A. Re: Spanish mini-lesson - adjectives. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (14 Oct. 2005). ---- A fun way is to use celebrities - the kids enjoy it a lot! Baxter, D. Re: Spanish mini-lesson - adjectives. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (14 Oct. 2005). ---- My favorite activities for Spanish I are: Create-an-alien: Students have to put together an alien, using all sorts of things (like paper, buttons, popsicle sticks, etc) and then give him a name. They then write a paragraph about him/her/it, telling me what he is like, what he likes to do, how many eyes (and other body parts) he has, etc. Fashion show: I divide the students into four groups (one for each season), and they have to put on a fashion show in class. They all have to model and they all have to talk about a model. OR, they can have an emcee introduce each model and then each model must talk about him/herself. Flaskrud, P. Re: Spanish 1.
