Title | Seattle Aims for More Dual Immersion |
Body | Pilot dual-immersion programs have begun at a number of Seattle-area schools. Current plans include English-Spanish programs as well as possible Asian languages such as Vietnamese, Mandarin, or Tagalog. Proponents of the programs cite research suggesting that students who learn in their native language and in a second language develop higher cognitive skills and academic skills that are comparable to or better than their peers.
