Citing research that suggests bilingual children are more successful academically, many Canadian parents are choosing to enroll their preschool-aged children in programs which feature foreign language instruction. Parents also want to give their children a head start for later language learning. But there are potential disadvantages when too many languages are introduced at once, or when instruction becomes too rigorous and formal.
