Title | Textbook Attempts to Preserve Indigenous Chinese Language |
Body | After four years, teachers at Jiejinkou Hezhe Central School in Tongjiang, Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, have finished a textbook for Hezhe, a language with about 4600 speakers nationwide. The language is not widely used for communication, but it is hoped that formally educating native speakers will help preserve cultural traditions such as folk tales and folk songs.
