Title | Hispanics Account for Half of National Population Growth |
Body | Half of the growth in the U.S. population from 2000 to 2004 occurred among Hispanics, according to a Census Bureau report filed last week. The Hispanic population also tends to be younger and of lower socio-economic status than non-Hispanics. Those characteristics, in combination with the high number of illegal immigrants, seem to be delaying the surge in the Hispanic voting population predicted by many.
