With a Mandarin Chinese Advanced Placement program slated to begin next year, many U.S. elementary schools have one more reason to add Chinese to their curriculums. While students may not develop conversational fluency as quickly as they might in more commonly-taught languages such as Spanish, educators believe it's a good idea to start learning Chinese while students are young.
