Title | Advocates Urge Approval of Sign Language in Japan |
Body | Deaf schools in Japan largely focus on oral speaking skills, and students are often scolded for using their hands. In an attempt to improve this situation, the Japanese Federation of Bar Associations recently submitted a report to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology demanding that sign language be legally recognized as a teaching tool.
