Body

From: https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/ehon-japanese-childrens-picture-books/

This article discusses the many benefits of children’s books in Japanese for language learning. Namely, the author focuses on ehon, or  “illustrated stories for children in which the text and images are integrated, and generally work together to tell a story.” These texts are suggested for their highly contextualized language use, their compatibility with setting achievable goals for beginning learners, and for their introduction to Japanese culture. However, there are challenges to be aware of including the specialized nature of language that appears in children’s books and the ubiquity of advanced grammar.
