Body | From: http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/enews/2005/0329.htm#ChampionChinese Champion Chinese Sounding Systems & Pronunciation (also known as Champion BoPoMo & Hanyu Pinyin ) Author: Pei-Pei Champion According to the author, this multi-media and multi-intelligences program is geared to teach the Chinese language to native English speakers as a foreign language, and native Chinese language speakers as a beginning Chinese language learning tool by integrating the basic phonetic Zhuyin/system (BoPoMo-also can be used as the most basic and common components of both traditional and simplified Chinese characters, Japanese Kanji and Korean Hanja) and the Romanized Hanyu Pinyin system. Using pictures, stories, activity kits, workbook exercises, video and audiotapes, students become familiar with one or both of these systems as a beginning step to Chinese language acquisition. The program allows students to learn and memorize two sounding systems in 1- 2 hours and to start sounding out Chinese Characters and Reading Chinese material noted with either one or both of the phonetic Zhuyin/BoPoMo and Romanized Hanyu Pinyin systems in 2-6 Hours.
