Title | Viva! Van Builds Spanish Literacy and Bonds in Community |
Body | A Virginia librarian, working with Hispanic Outreach Leadership Action (HOLA), has contacted 1500 Spanish-speaking adults and children and distributed almost as many Spanish books in an attempt to foster new immigrants' connection with their new home while improving literacy. The Viva! Van visits supermarkets, ESL programs, and Hispanic festivals and other events to lend books, which may be borrowed without a library card and returned to any of several branches.
