Arabic has replaced Spanish, Italian, Creole, and Chinese languages and will soon replace English as the second most common mother tongue of students in Quebec's French-language school system. Immigration policies that favor French-speaking countries are one reason some schools' Arabic-speaking populations are as high as 44 percent.
