Waadookodaading, the only Ojibwe immersion school in Wisconsin, has recently reopened after shutting down due to the rapid spread of COVID-19. Ojibwe is listed as a "severely endangered langauges" by United Nations. Calls to preserve Ojibwe have become increasingly urgent due to the pandemic and the passing of several elders.
