Happy New Year to all! To kick off 2021, we are bringing it back to basics.

For the next few weeks, we will discuss the fundamental characteristics of language and language learning. This week, we focus on defining the characteristics of human communication. It is our goal in the coming weeks that we support learners in understanding just how dynamic and meaningful human communication is!

There are a couple ways to get connected with us this week:

• Join our InterCom Live! session. We connect on Facebook every Monday at 11:00 am Pacific. To join us, open CASLS's Facebook page at the designated time. Can't make it? The InterCom Live! events are always recorded, and you can find them on our Facebook page.
• Check out the Activity of the Week. This week, we use the characteristics of human communication video to explore what sets human communication apart from communication among other species.
