Title | What is Self-directed (Autonomous) Learning? |
Body | Self-directed (autonomous) learning means that learners are in control of their own learning! To be successful while learning outside of the classroom, learners have to consider how they will set goals, what strategies they will use to learn, what evidence they will have to document their growth, and how they will evaluate themselves. To begin their journey, have students watch the video below to learn what autonomous learning is and how they can use it in their everyday lives. And remember, just because they are acting autonomously, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t working with other people! It just means that learners are in charge. You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/rsohouRV1I0 After learns have watched the video, it's time for them to begin their journey with self-directed learning. Have them complete the following activity to brainstorm some of ways that they learn and practice language. Once they have done it for themselves, look at our ideas. Do these inspire learners to add anything to their original lists? Brainstorm: Student Guide – Fillable |
