Body | From: https://concall.indiana.edu The Center for Languages of the Central Asian Region (CeLCAR) will host our Conference on Central Asian Languages and Linguistics (ConCALL) at Indiana University during the weekend of April 17-19, 2020. Held bi-annually, ConCALL is an academic and a professional development conference for linguists and language educators specializing in the languages of the Central Asian region. (See event website, https://concall.indiana.edu.) As a Title VI Language Resource Center focusing on languages of this region of the world, we cover both the Altaic and Eastern Indo-European languages spoken in the region, a diverse range of languages such as Azerbaijani, Balochi, Dari, Kazakh, Kurdish, Kyrgyz, Mongolian, Pashto, Persian, Tajiki, Tibetan, Turkish, Turkmen, Tuvan, Uyghur, and Uzbek, as well as Armenian and Georgian, along with countless endangered languages, such as Buryat and Kalmyk (Mongolic), Shugni (Iranian), Selkup (Uralic), and Chuvash, Bashkir, and Yakut (Turkic). (See our language map.) Keynote speakers for the conference include leading names in Turkic, Iranian, Mongolic and Uralic linguistics, as well as phonology, syntax and second language acquisition.
