Divided in three sections, this book explores the contestation of space, examines the ways in which heritage and authenticity are challenged, and interrogates the intersections between mobilities and hierarchy. It is based upon fieldwork in Africa, Asia, Australasia, and Europe and explores how language can both be a place for struggle and a means to overcome struggle.
