The students are majoring in English education, early childhood education, or Chinese language. During the five-month program, the student interns began their journey as observers and assistants before leading their own instructional activities such as small reading groups or Chinese cultural afterschool programs. The student interns expanded their views about educational systems and instructional practice while gaining confidence working with local students. “We are sad to see them leave, but look forward to seeing their success in their classrooms,” says East Asia Programs Director Li-Hsien Yang. |

Last September, CASLS hosted ten student-teachers from China and Taiwan. They completed full-time educational internships at elementary schools in both Eugene and Springfield, Oregon.
