Dictation is an activity that has largely gone out of favor in the language classroom due to the fact that it does not cultivate communicative skills. However, it is an activity that, when done sparingly and with appropriate intention, can help students as they prepare for standardized tests or as they cultivate their listening skills. This article provides a list of alternate takes on dictation to add variation and interest.
