This year, Babel: The Language Magazine (https://babelzine.co.uk/) will be running the sixth edition of their Young Writers' Competition, which encourages young linguists who are starting out on their study of language. 

Babel will be publishing two articles, one by a 16–18-year-old writer and one by an undergraduate student. Both articles will appear in Babel No. 29, to be published in November 2019. Entries can be about any topic that relates to languages and linguistics – the important thing is that it is interesting and accessible for readers. 

The deadline for submitting articles is August 30, 2019.
