Title | SLA Student Symposium |
Body | From https://symposium.sla.wisc.edu/ The SLA graduate students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, the University of Iowa, and the University of Minnesota have formed a partnership to host this annual symposium, with organization and hosting of the symposium rotating among the universities. Transmodalities: Contesting Borders in Language Studies, the 12th annual SLA Student symposium will be held on April 19th and 20th, 2019 at Union South on the UW-Madison campus. This symposium will be of interest to wide spectrum students interested in language learning, research, and education, and the social, psychological, and linguistic factors implicated. This free, student-run symposium is hosted in conjunction with counterparts at the University of Iowa and the University of Minnesota. This symposium will feature one invited keynote speaker and two invited plenary speakers: Dr. Jeff Bezemer (University College London), Dr. Samuel David (University of Minnesota), and Dr. Mercedes Niño- Murcia (University of Iowa). It will also feature two panel discussions on Transmodalities and Professional Development. In addition to the plenary sessions and panels, approximately 40-50 students from UW Madison and other universities will be invited to present their current research endeavors, an opportunity that is vital to both advanced undergraduates and graduate students.
