Your InterCom editor, who taught high school Spanish before coming to work at CASLS, had never heard of the Catalán tradition of feeding a log for weeks before Christmas, keeping it warm with a blanket and hat, and then having children hit it with sticks to help it "poop" candy and other gifts.
