Body | Register for the next French spelling bee, La Dictée des Amériques - Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in Phoenix and Tuscon, at 2:30 p.m. Arizona participates in the FRENCH Dictée des Amériques for the fourth year (Please forward to everyone you can, and post in public places.) For release immediately, Phoenix, Tucson Amateurs of the French language in Arizona, who hold American citizenship, are invited to participate to the qualifying written test for the 12th Dictée des Amériques, to be held Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 10:30 a.m., at the Phoenix Century Branch library (see directions at http://frenchandenglish.com/Dictee2005.doc), and Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 2:30 p.m., at the Nanini Library, in Tucson, AZ. The purpose of the contest is to encourage excellence while generating a new source of motivation for all those who hold dear to their heart the beneficial influence of the French language and culture. Participants can enter in the junior category (less than 19 years old as of March 31, 2005) or senior (19 or more as of March 31, 2005). Contact the coordinator, Mrs. Diane Goullard Parlante at (602) 870-1000, to register, or come on February 5. Grand finale dictation, Saturday, April 9, 2005, in the city of Quebec, in the province of Quebec, Canada. Junior and Senior winners transportation to and from the final destination wishing to participate, will be their sole responsibility. At that time, finalists from America, Europe, Africa and Asia will attempt to outwit spelling and grammatical pitfalls of the given text. There is no cost to register and participate, but transportation to Quebec is at the sole expense of the participants; in Quebec itself, local transportation, hotel and meals will be provided by La Dictée des Amériques.
