TitleSouth Carolina German Position
Body
From: "Carol Haring"

I have just accepted a position closer to where I live and want to let you all know of the opening for the position I am leaving. I teach German I, II, and III (German IV, V, and VI are offered at the discretion of the teacher) fulltime at York Comprehensive High School in York, SC, just south/southeast of Charlotte, NC. Here's the web site:

http://www.york.k12.sc.us/ychs.htm

(it's not up-to-date as you'll notice ~ the former German teacher's name is still listed).

The high school is grades 10 to 12 with 900 students. The students & my FL colleagues (1 French teacher & 2 Spanish) are wonderful, the administration is more wonderful, and I really have mixed feelings about leaving.

However, I had an hour commute each way and my new school is just 15 minutes from home, so that is the big consideration in my changing schools. We use the Komm mit series. We have the 4 x 4 block with 90 minute classes. I started a chapter of the German National Honor Society this year and there is also a German Club.

The city of York is small, out in the country, which is why I liked it. Many teachers live in Rock Hill, SC; Fort Mill, SC; or in Charlotte, NC. I might add that a brand new high school is in the planning 2 or 3 years from now.

I truly have only good to say about this school and the people there. It's been a very fulfilling year.
