Title | NAEP Validity Studies Reports Now Available Online |
Body | From: The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) has made a number of interesting NAEP Validity Studies (NVS) Panel reports available online. The reports, released May 19-21, are included in the complete list of NCES NAEP working papers at: http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/getpubcats.asp?sid=031#014 Specific titles of these recently released papers are below. These reports, some commissioned by the NVS Panel as early as 1997, were written by members of the Panel to report on studies conducted to identify and develop technically sound techniques for use in NAEP assessments. The Panel, whose membership includes nationally recognized psychometricians and experts in NAEP subject areas, advises NCES on the research agenda for maintaining and developing the high technical quality of NAEP assessments. Discussions between the Panel and NCES have resulted in a rich collection of reports, which can be easily downloaded for free: The Validity of Oral Accommodation in Testing http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200306 An Agenda for NAEP Validity Research http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200307 Improving the Information Value of Performance Items in Large Scale Assessments http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200308 Optimizing State NAEP: Issues and Possible Improvements http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200309 Reporting the Results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200311 An Investigation of Why Students Do Not Respond to Questions http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200312 A Study of Equating in NAEP http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200313 Feasibility Studies of Two-Stage Testing in Large-Scale Educational Assessment: Implications for NAEP http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200314 Computer Use and Its Relation to Academic Achievement in Mathematics, Reading, and Writing http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200315 Implications of Electronic Technology for the NAEP Assessment http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200316 The Effects of Finite Sampling on State Assessment Sample Requirements http://nces.ed.gov/pubsearch/pubsinfo.asp?pubid=200317 |
