2018 Delaware Institute for Novice Immersion Principals

Recognizing the critical role principals of immersion programs play in program success, the Delaware Department of Education is again offering a targeted professional learning opportunity focused on building leadership capacity to implement, expand, and sustain immersion programs. Now in its fourth year, the 2018 Delaware Institute for Novice Immersion Principals will take place June 25-27, 2018 in Wilmington, Delaware and will provide participants with foundational learning to build and sustain successful programs.

  • The Elementary Strand for Grade K-5 administrators focuses on understanding the foundations of immersion and promoting academic success, bilingualism/biliteracy, and cultural competence. (maximum 50 participants)
  • The Middle School Strand for Grade 6-8 administrators focuses on addressing the unique challenges of meeting the needs of elementary immersion learners who articulate into middle school immersion and immersion continuation programs (maximum 25 participants)

Regardless of strand, principals are encouraged to apply with their assistant principal and district immersion coordinator/contact to maximize impact.
