Seeking Curriculum Developers for Impact Study of Explicit Literacy
Instruction on Adult ESOL Literacy Learners
Deadline: February 18, 2005

The American Institutes for Research (AIR) invites developers of research
based explicit literacy curricula to submit proposals to participate in an
exciting new research initiative. This opportunity will include adapting an
existing literacy curriculum for use with a low-literacy adult ESOL population,
as well as providing professional development and support to the teachers
implementing the curriculum.

The effectiveness of the selected curriculum in increasing the literacy skills of
low-literacy adult ESL learners will be evaluated as part of the Explicit
Literacy Impact Study being conducted for the National Center for Education
Evaluation and Regional Assistance of the Institute of Education Sciences
within the U.S. Department of Education. Submissions are due by February
18, 2005.
