We've highlighted French teacher Rebecca Blouwolff's Interpersonal Boot Camp assessment technique in the past (http://caslsintercom.uoregon.edu/content/20943). This technique uses stations in the classroom to make it easy for the teacher to give feedback to students. 

Teachers may find it difficult to have Novice level learners engage in interpersonal interactions, since neither participant may have the skills to ask questions or extend the conversation.
