Body | A Teachers College of Columbia University project to develop textbooks for Afghanistan began in the 1970s but was abandoned in 1978 due to political change in that country. Now the project is being renewed, thanks in part to Barry Rosen, a Teachers College staff member whose initial exposure to Persian began when he was held hostage in Iran in 1979.
