TitleSeeking Model Heritage Language Programs
Body
The Alliance for the Advancement of Heritage Languages (AAHL) is
compiling an online collection of heritage language programs and related
resources within and beyond the formal education system.

If you work in or know about a program or resources that others should know
about, please contact Joy Peyton, Center for Applied Linguistics, joy@cal.org,
for guidelines. Thank you!!

BACKGROUND
In 1999, the Heritage Language Initiative (HLI) launched coordinated efforts
across languages and instructional settings to develop a national
infrastructure of information and resources to support the development of
heritage language speakers' competencies. Efforts included the Second
National Heritage Languages in America Conference (2002) and the Alliance
for the Advancement of Heritage Languages, which needs the collaboration
of all constituents. Our current goal is to compile and make available
information about promising heritage language programs -- K-12, higher
education, and community-based.
