Title | Presentation: Mapping the Syrian Conflict through Syrian Short Story and Art |
Body | Malu Halasa, Jordanian Filipina American writer and editor based in London, will be joining the Center for Contemporary Arabic Studies alongside Dr. Mohammad Alahmad and Dr. Elliott Cola of Georgetown University, to present on Syrian literature and poetry. Her lecture will examine the roots of the Syrian conflict as seen through Syrian short stories by Zakaria Tamer (Breaking Knees: 63 Very Short Stories from Syria), Rasha Abbas (The Gist of It), Zaher Omareen (Hama Massacre Bedtime Stories) and Osama Alomar (The Teeth of the Comb and Other Stories). The lecture will take place December 2, 2017, at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
