Body | Boston University, Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Literatures, invites applications for a full-time position of Lecturer in Turkish beginning September 2005. Initial appointment is for three years, renewable, with the possibility of conversion to tenure-track status. Qualifications: PhD in Turkish Studies or a related field in the social sciences or humanities; demonstrated capacity for research and publication; experience in teaching college-level Turkish language; and native or near- native fluency in Turkish and English. Experience in curriculum development is an asset. Area of specialization is open, although modern Turkish literature, intellectual history, folklore, or cultural studies are desirable. Ph.D. must be in hand at time of appointment. Duties: developing a program in Turkish language, beginning with a 2- semester sequence, and teaching undergraduate courses in his/her area of specialization. Course load is two courses a semester. The successful candidate will be joining a developing program in Arabic, Persian and Eurasian languages.
