AWLA invites you to submit proposals for AWLA Conference 2018
Sweet Home Alabama: Language and Community
Hosted by the University of Mobile, Mobile, AL , February 2-3, 2018

Besides offering a unique professional development opportunity, the conference weekend is being held in conjunction with the celebration of Mardi Gras in Mobile.

Proposals relating to the teaching of languages and in particular those that intersect with community are sought for inclusion in the program. Proposals on pedagogy, methods, and best practices in language teaching/learning for pre K-12 through higher education are also sought.

Undergraduate and graduate student research presentations are welcome. In the selection process, preference will be given to proposals that show how community is shaping language learning and teaching.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Unique pedagogical approaches and research reports
•    Languages for specific purposes & languages for careers
•    Languages, culture, and interculturality
•    Languages for social justice
•    Language learning technology & mobile language learning
•    Issues surrounding language teaching (e.g., advocacy, Seal of Biliteracy)
•    Case studies and action research
•    Professional development challenges and solutions
•    Leadership
•    Study and learner-centered travel abroad

The deadline for proposals is May 15, 2017.
