Body | From: http://www.ncela.gwu.edu/enews/2004/1116.htm#NEA CEMELA, the Center for Mathematics Education for Latinos/as, at UIC, offers a rare and outstanding opportunity for doctoral students who want to become leaders in Mathematics Education and contribute to the improvement of mathematics learning of Latinos/as. CEMELA offers financial support (doctoral study fellowships including summer) for full-time graduate study leading to a Ph.D. with an emphasis in Mathematics Education. Doctoral students will be expected to pursue a program of study that focuses on the mathematics learning of Latinos/as and that integrates language, culture, policy, and mathematics. Candidates can have a background in such areas as Bilingual Education, Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Latino Studies, Linguistics, Computer Science, or any other program of study. Persons interested in graduate study at UIC and CEMELA financial support should: - Apply to the College of Education at University of Illinois at Chicago by January 1, 2005. Applications are at http://www.uic.edu/educ/index.html/ and should indicate Curriculum Design Doctoral Program.
