Applications Invited for Toyota International Teacher Program
Deadline: January 10, 2005

[Source: RFP Bulletin (October 29, 2004)] Now in its seventh year, the Toyota
International Teacher Program offers teachers a chance to learn about
Japan's culture, history, and education system, as well as its approach to
issues such as technology and the environment. For the 2005 program,
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. will send sixty high school teachers on a fully
funded, two-week cultural/educational study program to Japan. The program
is administered by the Institute of International Education (http://iie.org/).

The program will take place June 24 through July 11, 2005, and includes
travel time, two nights in Los Angeles for pre-departure orientation, and
fourteen nights in Japan. Direct costs of participation (transportation, lodging,
and meals) will be paid by Toyota.

Teachers will be selected from states where Toyota has major facilities:
Alabama, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, and West
Virginia. This year the opportunity has also been expanded into New York
and Washington, D.C.

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for
participation: be a U.S. citizen at the time of application; be employed full-time
as a secondary school teacher (grades 9-12); work in one of the eligible
states; have a minimum of three years' full-time teaching experience at the
time of application; and expect to continue teaching at the high school level
through at least the 2005-06 school year.
