Body | CARLA will recognize two individuals at their 2016 convocation, a teacher and a scholar, who have distinguished themselves within the international field of immersion and dual language education. Consider nominating a colleague and learn more about the award nomination process here: http://carla.umn.edu/conferences/immersion2016/awards Timeline This award is in recognition of a teacher who has made significant contributions in teaching and promoting bilingualism and cultural competency for all children. The nominee must have at least five years' experience in a school-based immersion, bilingual, or dual language program involving a minimum of 50% subject-matter schooling through a second, world, heritage, or indigenous language at the preschool and elementary levels (PreK–5/6). Nominees are also eligible from secondary or post-secondary continuation programs for elementary immersion/dual language graduates that include a minimum of two subject courses in the immersion language. --- This award is in recognition of a leader in the field of immersion/dual language education who has made significant contributions in the areas of research, service, or teacher education. The nominee will have made scholarly and service contributions to school-based immersion and dual language programs involving a minimum of 50% subject-matter schooling through a second, world, heritage, or indigenous language at the preschool and elementary levels (PreK–5/6). Nominees are also eligible with similar contributions to secondary or post-secondary continuation programs for elementary immersion/dual language graduates.
