Title | Algeria Recognizes Amazigh as Official Language |
Body | Although Amazigh (also known as Berber) was already recognized in Algeria as a national language, it las lacked the status of Arabic, which as an official language could be used on administrative documents. However, on January 5 the Algerian government announced a set of reforms, aimed at increasing democracy in Algeria, that include making Amazigh (called Tamazight in the language itself) an official language as well.
