| Title | Integrating Culture in All Modes: A Noël Unit for Novices |
| Body |
Here is a timely blog post describing a Christmas unit for novice French learners. The unit addresses two challenges that are likely to come up in a culture unit about Christmas: novice students don’t have many tools to talk about others, and in a diverse class, asking students to describe and compare their own December/January holiday traditions could make some students uncomfortable. Both issues are addressed by using a role-play. Read a description of the unit and access linked authentic resources here: http://madameshepard.com/?p=1041 Here is a related article with suggestions for how to teach December holidays in an inclusive manner: http://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/global_learning/2015/11/teaching_the_holidays_the_december_dilemma.html |
