CASLS would like to extend a warm welcome to two new student employees!

Kathryn Carpenter [left] is a Curriculum Development Assistant at CASLS. She is currently completing her MA in the UO Department of Linguistics Language Teaching Specialization program. Kathryn has experience with bilingual programs and teaching English as a foreign language, and is especially interested in learner engagement and motivation. While a Graduate Teaching Fellow (GTF) at CASLS, she will be helping develop assessment procedures and classroom activities, among other things. Kathryn says, “I am excited to work at CASLS! I’m looking forward to being able to apply what I am learning.”

Jordan Lewis [right] is an undergraduate student at the University of Oregon, pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Japanese. Jordan attended Yujin Gakuen Japanese Immersion Elementary School in Eugene and has been studying Japanese for 14 years. Jordan plans to study abroad in Japan during his Junior or Senior year. In addition, he has participated in two study abroad programs in Italy where he took entrepreneurship, behavioral neuroscience, wine marketing and social media marketing courses. Jordan is CASLS new Office Assistant and will be helping to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently as well as helping with special projects and Japanese language assignments. Jordan says, "Having an international and community-based work position like this is an honor, and I can't wait to start working on the various projects CASLS is developing."
