Dear Colleagues in NY, NJ, PA,

We would like to invite you and your students to a Goethe-Institut exhibit "Umdenken: Von der Natur lernen" (Rethinking: Learning from nature) that we present in cooperation with NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. Focusing on the four elements fire, water, earth, and air, this interactive exhibit presents surprising facts and showcases what each of us can do to help protect our environment. Following an interdisciplinary approach and providing customized teaching material, the exhibition combines learning German with the subject of environmental protection. The exhibit is in German, but English translations for all elements are provided; thus it is an ideal opportunity for German learners to interact with authentic materials in the target language (with the support of translations if needed). The exhibition is designed for students ages 13 and above, but is also suitable for younger audiences.

When:   October 05-25, 2015; daily 10 am - 6 pm

The exhibit will then travel to Washington, DC; Toronto, and San Francisco.

We offer an extensive range of events and materials that enhance your visit and support you in preparing your students for the exhibit.

1. For school classes we offer guided tours and German language workshops on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays we offer guided tours in combination with experimental workshops in English focusing on STEM topics and based on exhibit materials. 2. For teachers we present a series of classroom materials on sustainability and environmental themes, closely connected to the exhibit. We also offer several 1-hour live online tutorials that guide you in using the materials in your classrooms.
