Title | Webinar: Retooling Lessons with a Lens of Interculturality |
Body | From http://wli.rutgers.edu/workshops/calendar/icalrepeat.detail/2015/10/01/63/-/- Adjusting the Focus: Retooling Lessons with a Lens of Interculturality Intercultural competence is the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with people of other cultures. Using Byram’s five Savoirs, we will focus on ways to re-examine your curriculum with a lens of interculturality. In this hands-on session, participants will look at commonly taught lessons and retool them to reflect investigations of products and practices, understanding of cultural perspectives, and participation in cultural interaction. We will also explore the NCSSFL Interculturality Can-Do Statements and adapt them to participants' learning environments, whether they are at the elementary, middle, high school, or post-secondary levels. Participants will leave with an eye toward interculturality and the process to break down a lesson and infuse it with skills and knowledge for helping students achieve intercultural competence.
