The mission of NWREL is to improve educational results for children, youth, and adults by providing research and development assistance in delivering equitable, high quality educational programs. NWREL provides research and development assistance to education, government, community agencies, business, and labor. NWREL's Assessment Program has a strong development and training program that encourages the appropriate use of assessment methods which align with state and local educational achievement standards. Alternative assessment and the development of comprehensive assessment systems drive much of the research and development work of the Program. Assessments of English language learners are a specific focus for this position. |
