The SWCOLT Chinese Scholarship is a professional development opportunity to study abroad for Chinese language educators in the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels from Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawai'i, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.

Successful scholarship applicants will be asked to join SWCOLT. A total of twenty scholarships will be awarded by the Chinese Language Center, SCU (Soochow University). The scholarships cover tuition, room, and board. The applicants will be expected to cover their travel expenses.

The scholarships will be formally presented at the Scholarships presentation at the Southwest Conference on Language Teaching in Hawai'i in March 2016. Winners do not have to be present in Hawai'i to receive their scholarships. Soon after, the scholarship recipients will be contacted directly by the scholarship sponsor/institute for the details of the program, such as dates, classes, lodging, and information about the location. If selected, recipients must give careful consideration that they must attend the study abroad experience. Upon their return from their scholarship, recipients will be expected to write an article with photos regarding their experiences to be published in the SWCOLT Newsletter.
