This 2-page story from Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin, copyright (c) 2005 by Blithedale Productions, Inc. and reprinted by permission of Simon & Schuster in honor of the 150 year anniversary since Lincoln’s assassination, weaves the story of President Lincoln’s last day as president. It is written for English L1 speakers making it authentic language and also an exciting story full of history relating to the U.S. during the Civil War period. ESL students with a high English reading level may enjoy reading all or part of this story.
