Title | Jeux Olympiques in French |
Body | To begin the year, I plan to "profiter de" the interest in the Olympics by beginning with a sports unit. There is some GREAT stuff in French on the official web site. Start with the Espace Jeunesse: http://www.athens2004.com/fr/Youth2004/youth and play one of the games, look up events and athlete biographies, etc. etc. Sorry, Spanish teachers: site is in English, Greek & French, although you could go to Athletes/Biographies and see what events each country is entering... For Canada's athletes: http://www.rds.ca/jo/ in French And TF1's coverage of French athletes: http://www.eurosport.fr/home/pages/V4/L3/S82/sport_Lng3_Spo82.shtml Blaz, D. Les JO. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (12 Aug. 2004). This site has over 13,000 specific terms related to the Olympics. You can view very technical vocabulary for each sport by clicking on the link for each sport. http://www.lexique-jo.org/2004/lexique.cfm?type=1 I am using some of this on a bulletin board for the beginning of the year: "Let the Learning Begin!" I'll also have participating Spanish and French-speaking countries information. The NBC site has a neat country section: http://www.nbcolympics.com/countries/index.html von Werder, R. Olympics Vocabulary: French, Greek, English. Foreign Language Teaching Forum listserv. FLTEACH@LISTSERV.BUFFALO.EDU (12 Aug. 2004). |
