“‘Kù Chinese’ is a series of fun and funny videos that can supplement Integrated Chinese or any other Chinese curriculum. In the episodes, MC Bing translates Chinese words and phrases directly into English, and invites people in America to guess their meanings. Teachers can play the videos in class or assign students to watch them at home. The intention is to further develop students’ interest in learning Chinese and to expand their knowledge of Chinese in a more colloquial and casual context.” This first episode of the program is about colors; specifically, what do different colors symbolize in Chinese culture? MC Bing asks people from different backgrounds what they think different colors could represent, and then reveals what they usually represent in Chinese. The results are quite interesting!
