TitleExperto teme la desaparición del español en el suroeste de Estados Unidos
Body

From www.fundeu.es

Research by Dr Devin Jenkins, University of Colorado, suggests that Spanish could disappear in the southwest of the US because third generation Spanish-speaking children may not learn or speak the language, even within their families. This seems to be the case in Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico, and could complicate family relations between generations, as well as a loss of cultural attachment. To prevent this, Dr Jenkins believes bilingualism should be promoted and more socially accepted. The good news is that the old correlation between speaking Spanish and having a low socioeconomic background has decreased, so it's not an indicator anymore.
