The International Journal of Language Studies is devoting a special issue to the theme of 'English for Specific Purposes: The State of the Art' which will be co-edited by Emilia Di Martino, Gabriella Di Martino and Christopher Williams.

Proposals of 250-300 words would be most welcome on any topic related to the theme in question, and should be innovative and original in outlook, underlining aspects of change in the sphere of ESP, for example on topics which stretch or redefine the boundaries of ESP.

Possible topics may include:
- Redefining ESP in the 21st century
- Innovative studies on one or more of the sub-disciplines of ESP (e.g. English for Medical Purposes, English for Academic Purposes)
- ESP in the multimodal digital era
- The future of ESP research
- ESP and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL)
- New approaches to intercultural ESP studies
- Teaching ESP in a context of limited financial resources
- The changing needs of ESP learners
- Original ways of using corpus studies in ESP research
- ESP and the new social media
- Interpersonality and ESP

The deadline for submitting a proposal is 31 August 2014.
