Overall Objectives of the Book

The objective of this book is to look at the topic of Computer Aided Language
Learning (CALL) in a new direction.

We will focus on the human-computer interaction elements of learning a
language online. The general goal of the book is to discuss the basis of a
broad framework for the development and management of CALL
environments, enriched with contributions from domains as diverse as
education, information systems, psychology, sociology, linguistics, artificial
intelligence, e-learning and many others. The book will put the emphasis on
the user (learner) and propose methodologies, strategies and design
approaches for designing interfaces that facilitate a user-centered design
approach and focus to CALL.

A 2-5 page manuscript proposal is due by August 10, 2004.
