Body | http://www.oregonlive.com/search/index.ssf?/base/editorial/ 1087301115179230.xml?oregonian?yedcrl This editorial speaks to many issues in the foreign language instruction debate in the state of Oregon. Mr. Landauer begins: Foreign language instruction in Oregon public schools illustrates one of the biggest disconnects between what we say, what we know and what we do. Nationally, foreign languages have been recognized as part of the core curriculum in the No Child Left Behind Act. In Oregon, the 2003 Legislature essentially demoted study of world languages to peripheral status. |
